MR Owltraleap
As part of a Mixed Reality Hackathon at Ultraleap, my team and I developed a prototype for a virtual MR pet. We used the Varjo Headset, its hand tracking
and Varjo's markers for matching the virtual and real world positions.
We made an owl that hatches from a (real) egg, flies to your hand when it is in a certain hand pose and can be controlled by your hand position
with a clever mapping from the small space that your hand moves in to the bigger space that the owl moves in. There were also some balloons that could be
popped by the owl for some extra rewards.
I really enjoyed the use of both the physical egg and the virtual owl. Touching the real egg and placing it in the incubator
gave the user a closer connection to the owl.
